For development purposes on a Windows PC a copy of Docker Desktop will be required. Docker Desktop is, however, not recommended for production use and the full Docker environment running on a Linux host is the recommended approach.
The driver redundancy model under Docker remains the same - a main and a backup driver pair. Obviously care should be taken to ensure that the two halves of the pair are running on different physical hosts.
Customers are free to choose whatever container management and orchestration tools they wish and are able to support. For simple installations, we recommend the Portainer tool (www.portainer.io) Instructions for deploying Portainer on Docker can be found here.
Deploying Docker images generally requires internet access to download from a central registry (whether public or private) This presents an issue for many broadcasters who air-gap their production environments. Customers should liaise with their IT departments for guidance on how to work around these issues in their particular system. One strategy for dealing with this issue is documented here.
