IS-04 allows for the central registration and discovery of media devices on a network. A number of registries implementing the standard are available both as free/open-source and supported commercial implementations. Atos has its own registry implementation available that is intended to be a highly scalable & redundant option. The use of our registry product, however, is not a pre-requisite of using the NMOS functionality within this DDK.
When IS-04 integration is enabled, the DDK will automatically register details of the driver device and its parameters into the registry. In addition to the standard NMOS fields, a number of BNCS specific tags will also be added (see BNCSTags for a list of standard tags) All the information that would normally be presented in a static BNCS Device Type and in the Instances.xml file is associated with the registration in IS-04 thus, the registry can be used as a dynamic discovery mechanism for BNCS as an alternative to the traditional static file configuration. This approach will increasingly be adopted in future versions of BNCS to cope with the demands of increasingly dynamic broadcast environments.
The driver will expose standard NMOS Node & Connection endpoints via the built in web server. Refer to this section for details on how to configure the web server bindings.
