As with Infodrivers, parameters can either be Managed or Monitored.  

 

Managed parameters generally belong to the device which the driver is controlling.  The underlying infodriver for the device will be locally initialized within the driver.

 

Monitored parameters belong to a device that is being managed by a different driver but that we need to interact with.

 

Generally speaking, an Automatic would only even initialize monitored parameters as, by definition, an automatic cannot directly control a device.
